Terms of Service

Last updated: September 27, 2026.

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the Rural Transition Academy website, forums, memberships, and related services, together referred to as the Services. By using the Services you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

Who we are

Rural Transition Academy is a for-profit learning institution based in Holton, Kansas. We provide training, community, and resources focused on rural grocery transition and food access.

Accounts

Some areas of the Services require an account. A free Community Member account lets you take part in the public Community forum. Paid programs may require a paid membership. You are responsible for the information you provide, for keeping your login secure, and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate information and be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction.

Memberships, payments, and refunds

Free memberships cost nothing and may be changed or discontinued at any time. Paid memberships, when offered, are billed at the price and interval shown at checkout. Unless stated otherwise at the time of purchase, paid memberships renew automatically until cancelled, and you may cancel at any time through your account. Refund terms, if any, will be described at the point of sale. Taxes may apply.

Community conduct

The forums and community spaces are for constructive, respectful exchange. You agree not to post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, misleading, infringing, or spam, and not to disrupt the Services or misuse other member information. We may edit or remove content and suspend or remove accounts that violate these Terms, at our discretion.

Content and intellectual property

The Services and their content, including text, graphics, logos, and course materials, are owned by Rural Transition Academy or its licensors and are protected by law. You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works from paid or members-only materials without permission. Some training is delivered in partnership with other organizations and remains subject to their terms.

When you post content to the community, you keep ownership of it, and you grant Rural Transition Academy a non-exclusive license to display and distribute that content within the Services.

Third-party services

The Services may link to or rely on third parties, such as payment processors and course providers. Your use of those services is governed by their terms and privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them.

Disclaimers

The Services and all educational content are provided on an as-is and as-available basis for informational and educational purposes. We do not guarantee any particular business, financial, or professional outcome. Nothing in the Services is legal, financial, or accounting advice. You are responsible for the decisions you make for your business.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Rural Transition Academy and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits or revenues, arising from your use of the Services. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Services will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Termination

You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Services.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date above. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Kansas, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
